Find partners for UK – Switzerland Bilateral: Collaborative R&D 2024

Your project

Your project must:

  • have a maximum grant funding request (per project) of £450,000 for UK participants and CHF450,000 for Swiss participants
  • last between 18 and 36 months
  • The project consortium must include at least one business entity from each country (UK, Switzerland) and one research institute from either the UK or Switzerland. If the Swiss applicant is an individual start-up (pre-market and <50 FTE), the research institute requirement is waived
  • No partner may contribute more than 70% of the total person-months to the project. Person-months is the measure of the time in months that staff will devote to the project

This competition is open to UK – Switzerland collaborations only.

UK leads

To lead a project from the UK side your organisation must:

  • be a UK registered business of any size
  • collaborate with at least one Swiss registered business of any size
  • involve at least one research organisation from either country
  • carry out the majority of its project work in the UK
  • intend to exploit the results from or in the UK

The consortium must include at least one business registered in Switzerland that is a separate, non-linked entity. In order to receive any grant funding and continue as a feasible project, the project proposal must be successful on both sides of the consortium. If selected UK participants will receive grant funding from Innovate UK and Swiss participants if selected will receive grant funding from Innosuisse.

UK participants must be part of an application submitted to Innovate UK. Swiss partners must submit a parallel application to the Innosuisse programme.

Switzerland leads

Up to CHF 3 million from Innosuisse, has been allocated to fund Swiss organisations for innovation projects in this bilateral call.

For Swiss organisations, one application for each project must be submitted, before the submission deadline 1 May 2024.

Your full application consists of the common proposal and a submission of the national applications at Innovate UK and Innosuisse.

The completed application for Swiss partners must be submitted to Innosuisse (in English) as described in the call guidelines. The submission is made on the web-based submission portal of Innosuisse.

Each project must submit a full application before the submission deadline of 1 May 2024. The completed full application must be submitted to Innovate UK for UK partners and to Innosuisse for Swiss partners.
